Member Groups

The Member Group command provides the means to define groups of members that extend over a single span or multiple spans. Essentially a member group is a framing plan.

There can be multiple member groups within a single bridge model. Within each member group the orientation of the members (e.g. straight or curved) and spacing can be controlled.

The basic concept of a member group is that the fascia members are located either relative to the slab edge or to the alignment and then the interior girders are automatically spaced.

The user can then alter the spacing at the beginning and/or end of the member group as needed. For example, to model flared girder arrangements, etc.

Within a member group the user has the option to use imported MicroStation geometry as the beam path as selected in the Candidate Beam Paths command.

Member groups act as containers that consist not only of the member arrangement but also the members themselves. After they have been defined in the member Definition Command, Member Groups can be copied from one location to another and optionally copy the member definitions themselves.
